Addictive behaviors and “bad habits” typically originate as a compensation for something. Whether it is – a need for love, approval, acceptance, happiness or any other thing you may be lacking – an addiction is formed to placate that missing piece. Some common examples of addictions are smoking, gambling, excessive gaming, exercise addictions, compulsive eating, shopping, Internet addiction, sex and nail biting.
Hypnosis helps you make the changes you want to make, but have struggled to achieve on your own. By using hypnosis you are more open than usual to suggestions and behavior alterations. By being open and accepting we are able to make changes that allows us to develop new ways of thinking, create new patterns and inhibit unhealthy ones.
It is important to note that while we do offer hypnosis for addictive behaviors, at this time Beyond Better Hypnotherapy does not see clients with psychiatric illnesses or drug and alcohol addictions. There are many specialists in those fields that are better equipped to manage those types of issues. We can however, refer you to a specialist if one is required.
